Compatibility of powder coating additives with resin

Powder coating additives must be stable in powder coatings for a long period of time in order to achieve their proper performance. Therefore, the commonly used additives should have good compatibility with epoxy, polyester, acrylic and other resins. Carriers with E-12 as carriers cannot be used in the formulation of pure polyester systems. 1. Control the particle size distribution of the powder, the narrower the better:

Reasonably controlling the particle size of the powder (difficult to control), in our actual production, we only have to adjust the speed of the ACM main and auxiliary mills. It is important that the particle size of the powder is 40-50UM, and the narrower the distribution, the better.

Second, increase the resin content:

Increase the amount of resin and reduce the amount of filler. Use a resin with good charging performance. Epoxy is better for powdering. Some manufacturers do not powder polyester, and some manufacturers have difficulty in powdering the polyester (epoxy and polyester are ground separately. Powder spray plate), the leveling of the friction spray gun is significantly better than that of the electrostatic gun, and the friction gun can spray a thicker coating, the coating does not have the disadvantages of high-pressure guns such as blooming orange peel.

3. Reasonable selection of fillers:

Filler fineness and dispersion are closely related to powdering. The powder on the precipitate is higher than the general ultra-fine heavy barium, and the barium sulfate is better than the calcium carbonate.

Fourth, increase charging assistant:

Add an appropriate amount of conductive additive to the formula (Mechanism of action: make the powder particles more charged. There is a strong electric field in the area from the high-voltage electrostatic spray gun to the workpiece, and the air is ionized to generate hundreds of millions of ions. The powder particles of the electric agent are polarized when passing through this area, and they can capture more negative ions and carry more electric charges. The powder particles can reach the surface of the workpiece by their own power, thereby improving the powder coating on these parts.
